Moxy Newcastle Helix secures planning approval

Vastint Hospitality is delighted to have been granted planning permission by Newcastle City Council for the Moxy Hotel development at Newcastle Helix.

After seeing the potential in Newcastle, we are keen to design, build, and operate a hotel on Newcastle Helix, adding the city to our portfolio of hotels across Europe.

This will be the first Moxy Hotel in the North East of England. A boutique-hotel concept, Moxy is a fresh and innovative brand combining stylish design at an affordable price, bringing a new style of hotel to Newcastle. The boutique hotel which will be located immediately to the south of the Lumen office building will feature café and bar uses with associated cycle parking.

Matthijs den Teuling, Development Manager at Vastint Hospitality; “This is a significant step in our plans to bring Moxy to Newcastle. We think the design makes a great statement for its prime location.”

Matt Verlander, Planning & Development Director at Avison Young; “The scheme represents a further key component of Newcastle Helix on a prominent gateway site to the city.”

Chris Turnbull, Director in the Avison Young Building team adds; “We are delighted to have project managed the scheme through to a successful conclusion for both Vastint Hospitality and Newcastle Helix.”
