The much-anticipated public transport route connecting Business Garden Rīga to the city centre was launched on 1 July this year.
Since the opening of Business Garden Rīga, its developer Vastint Latvia has been aspiring to implement fast and accessible public transport between Marupe and the centre of Riga. Thanks to the initiative of Vastint Latvia, a new public transport route was approved by the Riga City Council Transport Department on 29 October 2021, and successfully launched on 1 July this year.
The new route, linking the Business Garden Rīga campus and the neighbouring Lindenholma Residential Quarter in Marupe with the centre of Riga, is currently in its trial stage. This means that the use of shuttle No. 5381 has been approved until the end of October, when the Transport Department will make a final decision about the continuation of the project.
The shuttles operate from Monday to Friday. They begin their route on Riepnieku Street near the central railway station, from which a shuttle heads to 11 Novembra Embankment, passing the National Library before it reaches Agenskalns. From Agenskalns the shuttle heads to Spice shopping centre, and then stops on Daibes Street by the Lindenholma Residential quarter, from which Business Garden Rīga is just around the corner.
“Accessibility of public transport has always been an important factor in the real estate sector, both for environmental and economic reasons,” explains Romans Astahovs, managing director of Vastint Latvia. “We are happy that Business Garden Rīga tenants now have a convenient means of getting to work. Before the shuttle was launched, the closest public transport stop was a 10-minute walk from Business Garden. Now it only takes you two minutes to walk from Daibes Street to the campus.”
Romans also stresses the environmental benefits of the new shuttle. “Of course, public transport is by definition more eco-friendly than a car. But since sustainability will always be one of the top priorities for Vastint, we are happy to have a zero-emission shuttle to transport our tenants between the Business Garden Rīga campus and the city centre. It is a new shuttle bus, so besides being eco-friendly it’s also outstandingly comfortable.”
