Detailed plan approved for Magdelēnas kvartāls

On February 14, 2017, the Rīga City Construction Board approved a detailed plan for the development of the Magdelēnas kvartāls, submitted by Vastint Latvia. The quarter will have 300 flats, 15,000 m2 of office space as well as 3,000 m2 of creative commercial space. According to the concept, the buildings will be divided into separate blocs, with various numbers of floors and functions. This will visually separate the residential area with private gardens from the public zone which will be developed as an open and accessible area for all residents and guests.  Magdelēnas kvartāls will be an open and harmonic place for living, working and recreation. A place for a fulfilling life.

The detailed plan is based on an examination of the historical development of the territory, looking at the structure and quality of construction, the cultural and historical values of buildings, the visual influence of the quarter, the development of the social infrastructure, and transportation flows. The designers have particularly taken into account the fact that Magdelēnas kvartāls is part of a UNESCO World Culture and Environment Heritage territory.

Currently the construction works are ongoing for the first residential buildings with 116 apartments, several commercial venues and an impressive green garden between them.  The next residential building to be constructed will have 91 apartments. Now that the detailed plan has been approved, Vastint Latvia can start preparations for an architectural contest related to the next round – two office buildings with 8,300 m2 of modern office space and 1,300 m2 of commercial venues on the first floors of the buildings.
