Lindenholma recognised as one of the best new residential projects

The annual Latvian Construction Awards 2020 was held on 12 March, with the Lindenholma residential quarter, developed by Vastint Latvia, receiving second place in the category New Construction – Residential Building.

The professional jury for this year’s Latvian Construction Awards 2020 chose the winners of 10 categories from among nearly 140 submissions. Lindenholma placed a respectable second in the category New Construction – Residential Building.

Lindenholma is a new residential quarter with an urban concept – straddling the border between Riga and Mārupe and mixing urban apartment buildings with elements of suburban housing in a comprehensive harmonious environment. The project was created according to the Vastint standard – the international quality and sustainability programme that Vastint consistently applies to all of its developments Europewide. This includes the use of sustainable, tested materials and solutions, both during construction and in the finishing works. The first phase entailed the construction of six residential buildings, with 209 apartments, and a smaller commercial structure for a wine merchant.

Lindenholma is a unique project with a car-free environment, where 56% of the land is green space and just 34% is devoted to buildings. The buildings are laid out in such a way that separates the courtyards from the city, for a safe and cosy lifestyle. The green yards are home to 102 large trees and over 14,000 different plants that contribute to creating the enticing atmosphere of a park. There are active leisure areas with four playgrounds for children and youth, including outdoor training equipment, sports courts, as well as a convenient area for more quiet relaxation adjoining the houses. Each apartment comes with a balcony that has up to 13.6 m2 of floor area, while the urban-villa-type buildings have spacious terraces ranging up to 46 m2. Each apartment is fully finished using high-quality materials sourced from world-leading brands. The Lindenholma residential quarter will ultimately boast over 660 apartments.

The idea for the Lindenholma residential quarter was developed by Gatis Didrihsons of SIA Didrihsons arhitekti; the construction design was authored by Arvīds Līkops and Kristaps Blaubergs of SIA Linia; the building interiors were designed by Svjatoslavs Aļeiņikovs of SIA ”in4 design ideas”; and construction works were performed by SIA Deprom LV, with SIA Forma 2 taking care of construction supervision.

The mission of the Latvian Construction Annual Award is to promote safe, innovative, high-value, aesthetically distinguished buildings and structures. The event has been running for seven years and is aimed at enhancing the prestige of the local construction, design and architecture disciplines with the general public, communicating their best practices in Latvia and abroad.
