Vastint Latvia owned building of the AC Hotel by Marriott Riga has received the Gold certificate from the international LEED programme

AC Hotel by Marriott Riga is the first Marriott hotel in Latvia and the largest Marriott in the Baltic’s. The hotel has 239 comfortable and modern rooms, four excellently lit multi-functional conference rooms on the building’s top floor, relaxation zones, a gourmet restaurant and a fitness center. Taking into consideration the well-being of both hotel guests and the city’s inhabitants, the front of the hotel features relaxation zones surrounded by greenery.

The original building was erected in 1969 and was home to the Central Mechanization and Automation Design Constructor Bureau. In 2005 the building was reconstructed by the Vastint Latvia development company. The architect Andris Kronbergs of “Arhis Arhitekti” worked on creating for the building an additional eleventh storey with a glass facade. In early 2018, the renovation work (author of the construction plan – architect Ieva Pētersone; manager of the construction project – Kaspars Beitāns, “KasunK.Studija”) on the hotel building was carried out to meet the high standards required by AC Hotels by Marriott. The public space in front of the building also underwent noticeable changes (authors of the project – landscaping architect Linda Zaļā, “Zala Landscape Architecture” and architects Andris Kronbergs and Mikus Druviņš, “Arhis Arhitekti”) – a spacious recreation zone has been created for both guests of the hotel and passers-by, including benches and a terrace surrounded by apple trees. The adjacent intersection of Dzirnavu iela and Antonijas iela has been improved and the speed-limit of motorized traffic has been decreased to make the zone more pedestrian friendly. The new hotel opened its doors in June 2019. The hotel management company Legendhotels Latvija has signed a 20-year franchise agreement with Marriott International.

LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification is based upon a rating system that evaluates a building’s adherence to internationally recognized sustainability criteria regarding construction and renovation. Vastint Latvia was assisted by WSP Sverige AB consultants throughout the certification process.

Receiving the Gold level in the certification process confirms the high-quality standards of Vastint Latvia. The company adheres to these standards in the development of all their projects as they strive to follow sustainability principles in their choice of materials used for both construction and interior finishing. This results in creating an environment that is enjoyable and conducive to people’s health and well-being, and which requires neither great effort nor investments to maintain in the long term.
