Jim & Tonic, operator of The Print House bar since August 2022 has taken the lease on 2 Dane’s Yard, a canal-side venue at Sugar House Island, east London.
The building, which will become known as ‘The Rum House’ is Jim & Tonic’s second venture at Sugar House Island following the launch of its ‘brand house’ and gin distillery last year. The building will house Jim & Tonic’s first ever rum distillery next to the current gin bar, this September 2023. The Rum House will feature a state-of-the-art distillery, new rooftop bar, and a private event space.
There will be a cocktail bar on the ground floor, which will offer regular events and screening, while the private space on the first floor will be available to hire for parties big and small, up to 150 people. The terrace will feature an open-plan rooftop bar, which can also be hired on request.
In the words of founder James Mark, “The Rum House and Distillery is all about bringing new fun products and experiences to a wide variety of people. The cocktail bar will showcase made-on-site products transformed into amazing cocktails by our in-house mixologist, Seb. The Distillery school will be capable of providing classes to all levels of interest and abilities, whether you’re a wannabe Master Distiller or just looking for something fun to do with family and friends. As a whole, the venue is there to be used any time of day, from the garden roof terrace to the event space, which will be capable of catering for pretty much any event you can think of.”
The Rum House will open in September at 2 Danes Yard.
