The A class office building owned by Vastint Latvia and located at Zaļā street 1 in the central business district has received the Gold certificate according to the international LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) programme for existing buildings in use. The certificate validates that the building and property management routines meet highest sustainability standards.
The former building of the A.G. Rūtenberg’s tobacco factory built in 1899 was fully reconstructed by Vastint Latvia in 2009 taking into consideration the A class requirements for office buildings. The offices in Zaļā1 are home to companies like Microsoft Latvia, TEVA Baltics, iVF Riga, Ask.fm, Soft-FX and Creative Media Services.
LEED EBOM certificate (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Existing Building Operations and Maintenance) is granted after evaluation of the compliance of buildings and their maintenance to the sustainability criteria according to an internationally renowned methodology. During the certification process, that lasted 14 months, Vastint Latvia was consulted by WSP Sverige AB.
The Gold level in the certification procedure is a high evaluation for the effort of Vastint Latvia in regard to reduced consumption of natural (energy) resources, use of sustainable construction materials, reduced environmental impact of the building, the use of environmentally friendly detergents and cleaning agents, sorting of waste, maintenance of the green zone and last, but not least – the creation of a healthy and safe working environment for people, who spend most of their day in the building Zaļā1.
The developer, owner and property manager of the office building, is Vastint Latvia SIA, a part of Vastint Group – an international real estate organisation with over 25 years of experience and actively operating in the Latvian market since 2003.
