Topping out ceremony for the K2 building in Gdynia

Vastint Poland held a symbolic topping out at the construction site of the K2 office building in Gdynia. Less than 14 months after the start of the project, completion of the building’s shell was celebrated. The final completion is scheduled for the end of this year, while the first tenants are expected to take occupancy in mid-2022.

The construction of the K2 project has reached another milestone. At the end of February 2021, construction work on the last of the building’s six floors was completed, reaching its maximum height of 25 metres. This achievement was recognised with the suspension of a traditional leafy tree at the top of the structure.

Roger Andersson, Managing Director of Vastint Poland, said: “It was great to celebrate such an important moment in the construction process of our newest development in Gdynia. The K2 office building reflects our commitment to the development of the office sector in the city.”

The K2 office building, which in its form refers to the architectural tradition of Gdynia modernism, is being built at the intersection of Kielecka and Śląska streets, the latter being one of the main communication arteries of the city. It is an intimate building offering 11,400 m2 of modern office space, a stylish lobby with work and meeting zones, and 138 parking spaces located in a two-level underground garage. Additionally, tenants will have at their disposal parking spaces for bicycles outside the building and changing rooms with showers in the garage.

Robert Gołąb, Project Manager at CFE Polska, commented: “The modern and innovative prefabricated structure of the K2 office building will provide future users with full freedom in interior design, while the technical solutions used yield high parameters of the working environment. We are very pleased that in the time of a pandemic, we are carrying out work ahead of schedule.”

K2 is being developed in accordance with the idea of sustainable construction and the requirements of LEED certification. The project uses a number of pro-ecological solutions including environmentally friendly building materials, ensuring an above-average standard of office space and increased efficiency in terms of electricity and water consumption, as well as access to daylight and air quality control.

A great advantage of the project is its location, ensuring convenient access to public transport and several important amenities, enabling future employees to plan their days efficiently. The office building is being built opposite the Wzgórze Św. Maksymilian district and adjacent to the bus terminus and the Riviera Shopping Center.
