Vastint Hospitality has acquired a second site in Essen to develop a 228 bedroom AC Hotel. The site is located about 1 km to the West of the city center and is part of a huge urban re-development of the former steel production plants of thyssenkrupp. Essen is in the middle of the Metropolitan Ruhr area and used to be the center of the coal mining industry and the industrial powerhouse in Germany. In the meantime, the city has mastered the transition to become the city of commerce and culture like few others.
