The Institute for Arts in Therapy and Education (IATE) has signed a lease to take 420 m2 in Dane’s Yard at Vastint UK’s Sugar House Island. IATE is the latest addition to the Island’s growing community of creatives, disruptors and knowledge sharers.
The Institute for Arts in Therapy and Education is a higher education college and not-for-profit organisation dedicated to changing people’s lives through art. The Institute offers the only course in therapeutic arts which qualifies graduates to work in the NHS as an art therapist.
IATE has a track record spanning over 30 years of training the country’s leading mental health professionals, and is an academic partner of University of East London.
The arrival of IATE is the latest step in Vastint UK’s vision for a neighbourhood that brings together world-class creatives, innovators and industry, alongside education and learning. The growing community includes Jim & Tonic’s rum and gin distilleries, art publishers Phaidon, arts studio space Create + Destroy, and talent hub The Talent House.
Its arrival also coincides with the recent launch of Sugar House Island’s free year-long art exhibition programme in partnership with Hypha Studios, awarding free art space to local creatives.
