After the successful completion of the circular strip-out in 2023, Vastint Netherlands has now also completed Phase 2 of the redevelopment of Weesperzijde 190: the asbestos removal. This phase was carried out by Lagemaat, in close collaboration with the project team and under the guidance of SGI Compliance as asbestos consultant.
During the removal process, various asbestos-containing materials were safely and compliantly removed according to applicable regulations. These included the following asbestos-containing applications:
-
13,521 meters of lost formwork
-
26,633 meters of sealant
-
50 doors
-
70 gaskets
-
1,600 m² of wall cladding
-
8,938 meters of anti-drumming material in the facade
-
11,527 m² of asbestos-containing adhesive
Additionally, as much as 42,000 m² of screed was removed.
In total, 303 tons of asbestos-containing material were removed. Other materials that were released during this phase were also carefully disposed of, yielding impressive results:
-
139 tons of metals
-
67 tons of construction and demolition waste
-
5,559 tons of rubble
A remarkable outcome: excluding the asbestos-containing material, an impressive 99.42% of the released materials were recycled.
This remediation marks an important step in preparing for the next phases of the redevelopment. With the completion of this intensive and technically challenging phase, the transformation of Weesperzijde 190 has moved significantly closer.
