South Bank’s Aire Park Revealed For Light Night Leeds

As headline sponsor of this year’s event, Vastint UK is proud to publicly reveal ‘Aire Park’ as the name of the much-anticipated new city district at the heart of South Bank. The Tetley Brewery site will play host to Aire Park’s first Light Night immersive art event on 10-11 October 2019.

International real estate developer Vastint UK is delighted to be the headline sponsor of this year’s Light Night Leeds, and will be inviting the public to its first ever expressive art event along the Hunslet Stray, in celebration of the launch of the Aire Park brand.

The naming of Aire Park is an important milestone for Vastint UK, giving life to plans that have been in development for the past two years. ‘Aire Park’ is a nod to the significance of the River Aire for the city and references the area turning full circle, from a meadowland hamlet in the 1800’s to industrial heartland and now a fantastic new city park. The name is both a reflection of the character of the area and Vastint UK’s vision for delivering a new district that will open up Leeds and reconnect the north, south, east and west of the city.

Aire Park will be hosting ‘Pleasance’ by Novak, transforming the former Brewery site into an multi-sensory immersive, family experience throughout the two-day event. The visuals and sounds of Pleasance are inspired by the hundreds of new trees, acres of green space, new homes, offices, restaurants and cafes that Aire Park will bring to the South Bank.

Visitors to Light Night Leeds will have the opportunity to learn more about Aire Park, which will transform South Bank into an all-purpose district with a central city park at its heart.

The 15th annual Light Night Leeds will take place on Thursday 10 and Friday 11 October, with a stunning programme of more than 60 impressive installations and performances by artists from across the world.

Andrew Cobden, Managing Director at Vastint UK, said: “Light Night Leeds is one of largest celebrations of art and creativity in the UK and draws a global audience. We’re excited to be involved for what is expected to be the biggest yet. In an event that quite literally illuminates the iconic areas of Leeds, and celebrating Mind, Body and Spirit, there’s no better way to offer a first glimpse of Aire Park; the new city park. We are looking forward to revealing more details in the coming weeks.”

Councillor Judith Blake, leader of Leeds City Council, said: “Light Night amplifies the very best of culture in our city and we’re delighted to have Vastint UK onboard as the headline sponsor this year, in anticipation for another iconic location in Leeds. Vastint UK’s vision for Aire Park supports our own plans to transform South Bank into a distinctive, vibrant, well-connected community and we look forward to showcasing this throughout Light Night.”
